In the global economy or world market that works faster than ever, 24/7.
FocalPoint Business Coaches often work with clients who want to develop a top performing team that can keep in the hard playing game of the world market.
Here are six keys we suggest our clients to consider when developing a strong team ready to play in their own World Cup.
Brand faith – By establishing a brand for your team to live by, the people who work in your organization have defined parameters and clearly understand who they are when they represent the company – what the organization wants to bring to the world and how they plan to do it. Every team member needs to be up to date on face that the public sees – they are your representatives and they need to feel confident about who they represent. Communicate changes to those inside before publicizing them to the world.
Open doors – Management has to have an open door policy to really get their staff feeling like they are in a position to give feedback. That means that there is always a way to connect with management for every member of the staff: regular staff meetings and one on one meetings, email and phone access, plus management spending time where people are working are all methods that can put approachability to the face of management.
Open mind – Give the members of your team chances to mess with concepts once in awhile, to bring forth suggestions and to communicate with other departments. It will give them opportunities to come up with new ideas, think outside of the box and understand each other’s mandates.
Learning-based environment – There is no possible way a person can be considered a professional these days if they don’t continually upgrade their education. An organization that wants to compete in the global economy needs their team members to keep themselves up to snuff with new trends, new technologies and methods. Turn professional development, like in classes and continuing education courses for a few select specialized employees, into team learning opportunities – ask those who get the training to teach the information they learned to the rest of the organization with an added emphasis on product or service application.
Tight performance – A good organization only becomes a great organization if they can put new ideas into action. That demands that the people involved know how the entire business operates – an understanding of who does what and why they do it can make change come easy. Professional staff with similar attitudes and expectations will be able to implement changes in their stride – communicating efficiently and effectively with each other.
The power of teamwork – A well built team will have similar values, they will know their job well and have an appreciation of what others in the organization do. Create a hiring system that maintains your standards. Hire people who fit with the way you do things – it will pay off.
If it seems we’ve come full circle with these six tips, you might be right. The main key to business success might just be hiring folk who fit the brand. What do you think? Do you think a well built team can tackle the global economy regardless of any other factors?
